Introduction
What is the Equality Delivery System 2?
The Equality Delivery System (EDS) is a toolkit to help NHS Trusts to improve their performance and services. It helps us, Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I), look at our work to see if we are treating all patients and staff in a fair way and it looks at what we need to do better. The aim is to make healthcare good and fair for everyone.
Equality
Equality is not about treating everyone the same, it is about ensuring that access to opportunities is available to all by taking account of individuals’ differing needs.
Diversity
Diversity is about recognising and valuing differences through inclusion which can be based on age, disability, gender, race, religion/belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity.
How can you help us?
We need your help and opinions to develop our work to promote equality and diversity for all. We would like you to respond to the following questions and tell us your thoughts on how we can ensure services meet your needs and equality of opportunity for all is delivered throughout C&I.
Think if C&I treat all groups of people in the same way. Things to consider:
- How easy is it for you to access services?
- Can everyone have a say in their care?
- How safe is the Trust for everyone?
What will we do with the information?
The information that we collect will be completely anonymous and will be used to develop equality objectives. This information is important and will help us to understand the needs of different communities in which C&I serves.
If you would like this in any other format that would better suit your needs, or in another language, please let us know by emailing us at equalityanddiversity@candi.nhs.uk
